A Dutch museum recently recovered an artwork resembling two empty beer cans after a staff member accidentally threw it away, mistaking it for trash.

The Lisser Art Museum (LAM) in Lisse found the piece, titled All The Good Times We Spent Together, in a bin after a lift technician assumed the hand-painted cans were left behind by careless visitors.

The artwork, created by French artist Alexandre Lavet, was on display inside a glass lift at the museum. Lavet’s work is a tribute to social moments and common objects, encouraging viewers to see everyday items in a new light.

Unaware of its artistic significance, the technician discarded the piece while cleaning the lift.

Curator Elisah van den Bergh noticed the artwork was missing and quickly initiated a search, finding the cans just before the trash was taken out.

After being cleaned, the cans were relocated to the museum’s entrance to highlight their value.

The museum holds no ill will toward the technician, acknowledging he acted in good faith, and praised the artwork for sparking reflection on ordinary objects.
