An off-duty doctor has been commended for her prompt response after helping to save the life of a young man who suffered a cardiac arrest at Golden Sands.
Jasmine Borg, trained in advanced emergency care, happened to be in the area when the incident took place in a remote part of the beach. Working alongside the Malta Red Cross, she acted immediately to provide critical care before emergency services arrived.
Thanks to swift coordination between several 112 command centres and the rapid delivery of advanced pre-hospital treatment, the young man’s heart was successfully restarted at the scene.
Borg’s professional training and composure under pressure played a vital role in giving the patient a second chance, with authorities underlining the value of emergency response skills – even when off duty.
Officials have once again urged members of the public to learn CPR and basic life-saving techniques, stressing that immediate action can be the deciding factor in such emergencies.
“Stay aware, slow down, and learn CPR,” a spokesperson said. “You too could save a life – just as Jasmine did.”
