October 2021 to register as much rain as half of last year

Oct 29 2021 Share

As many look out from the comfort of their own homes at the droplets making their way down the glass window, it would be interesting to note that this month’s rainfall will have amounted to same amount of rain which occurred throughout half of last year. This current rainfall marks a record breaking feat in terms of weather according to Facebook page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’. The page reports with today’s rainfall, the national average of rain calculated in October 2021 will go over the 200mm, or conversely, 8 inches.

The records broken continue however as October 2021 will be the second wettest month from the year 2000 onwards and the wettest month as of October 2010. October 2021 also surpasses the previous 9 months of this entire year in terms of rainfall. This also suggests that weather patterns this year have gone in either direction in terms of extremes. Not long ago do we recall the extreme heat waves which also broke records in summer. It seems as though the autumn and winter months are competing for some weatherly glory as well as we cuddle up inside to shelter away from battering storms and heavy winds.

Oct 29 2021 Share

FRIENDS actor Matthew Perry, who played fan-favorite and sarcastic Chandler Bing, has revealed that he will be releasing an ‘unflinchingly honest’ autobiography about his time on set and his addiction struggles. During his time on the world renowned sitcom, the actor struggled with alcohol and drug abuse, and all of it is set to be documented in the as-of-yet untitled book next autumn. Megan Lynch, a publisher, told Deadline newsroom that ‘Matthew’s extraordinary story, told in his inimitable voice’ will bring humor, catharsis and something for everyone to bond over.

The now 52-year-old actor’s autobiography will be the first one to be released from any of the FRIENDS cast, and he himself said that with so much written about him in the past, it is time to hear directly from the horse’s mouth. FRIENDS fans can expect what Perry and publishers are describing as an unflinchingly honest, dishy and hilarious autobiography. With Perry having been open about addiction in the 2016, saying that he didn’t remember three years of filming, this book would give a glimpse into the actor’s struggles and what helped him traverse them. Would you read Perry’s autobiography?

Electric car public chargers to triple by end of the year

Energy Minister Miriam Dalli has revealed that Malta will be practically tripling the amount of public charging pillars by the end of the year. She revealed how 130 new charging pillars, with a total of 260 charging points, will be installed by the end of the year all across Malta. With 56 activated public charging points across Malta, the numbers did not increase significantly in previous years. However, this means that the total will increase to 186, with 362 charging points.

Minister Dalli confirmed that 108 of these pillars will be medium charging pillars, whereas the remaining 22 will be fast chargers. Drivers will spend 17c per unit to charge their car at a medium charging pillar during non-peak hours and 19c during peak hours. Fast chargers will cost 18c per unit and 20c per unit for non-peak and peak hours respectively. This also relates to Malta’s plan to replace 65,000 conventional cars with electric and hybrid vehicles by 2030 as part of EU carbon neutrality targets.

Facebook changes name to 'Meta' as Mark Zuckerberg promises a 'new internet'

Before you even start reading, it is important to understand that the name of the application which you use to communicate with your grandparents and read news articles will still be named Facebook. What will change however is the name of the entire company, which covers Facebook itself, Instagram, Oculus and so much more.

Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the name ‘Meta’ stems from the Greek iteration for ‘beyond’ and it is a direct representation of the company’s fundamental belief; a company which connects people through technology.

A special event held by the company also highlighted that it will employ 10,000 new staff members to work on the company’s ‘metaverse’, an infinite virtual world where individuals can share their experiences without being together.

So what comes next? Only time will tell.
