As many look out from the comfort of their own homes at the droplets making their way down the glass window, it would be interesting to note that this month’s rainfall will have amounted to same amount of rain which occurred throughout half of last year. This current rainfall marks a record breaking feat in terms of weather according to Facebook page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’. The page reports with today’s rainfall, the national average of rain calculated in October 2021 will go over the 200mm, or conversely, 8 inches.
The records broken continue however as October 2021 will be the second wettest month from the year 2000 onwards and the wettest month as of October 2010. October 2021 also surpasses the previous 9 months of this entire year in terms of rainfall. This also suggests that weather patterns this year have gone in either direction in terms of extremes. Not long ago do we recall the extreme heat waves which also broke records in summer. It seems as though the autumn and winter months are competing for some weatherly glory as well as we cuddle up inside to shelter away from battering storms and heavy winds.
