“Not all classrooms have four walls”; Maltese family aims to inspire with their travels

In an attempt to inspire families to travel near & far, one Maltese family is attempting to encourage parents to travel as much as they can with their children on order to educate them.

Appropriately named ‘The Wandering Four’ on Instagram, Malta’s first travelling family’s mantra is that “Not all classrooms have four walls”, constantly highlighting the importance of travelling to destinations which challenge their comfort zones and create unforgettable memories.

The family argues that while many people think travel stops when children are born, the system simply changes and families have to adjust; but life goes on. “Traveling around the world is another way we like educate our kids,” said the parents of 10-year-old Ninu and 9-year-old Luċija.

A look at their Instagram page shows the family travelling to destinations like Vietnam, Malaysia, Borneo, Sri Lanka since they were toddlers and their most recent journeys are truly a sight to see. With a massive six-week trip to South America up next, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for The Wandering Four.

Massive support for super athlete’s brutal challenge to raise money for animal shelters

If you hadn’t heard already, Maltese super athlete Fabio Spiteri is currently approaching the end of an unbelievably difficult challenge to raise funds for Maltese animal shelters.

Spiteri took on a whopping 1,130 kilometre triathlon challenge in an attempt to raise €100,000 for local animal shelters… in scorching summer temperatures no less.

Animal Commissioner Alison Bezzina was amongst the many local personalities to celebrate the athlete’s incredible feat. “Fabio Spiteri has been awake, swimming and biking incredible distances for more than 55 hours. The pain, the pain!!!” Bezzina went on to encourage followers to contribute to Spiteri’s efforts by donating.

Fellow strongman, record-breaker and friend of Spiteri Neil Agius also took to Facebook to big up the athlete’s efforts, shining a light on the fact that he started the Race on Monday and is still at it with little to no sleep and rest. “This is why you put in all those hours of training… to get this moment and now it’s time to hold it together and bring it home.”

Farrugia Cann drops Infrastructure Malta CEO role to focus on FIFA referee career

Trustin Farrugia Cann has revealed that he will not pursue a tenure as Infrastructure Malta CEO due to focus on his career as an international FIFA referee.

In a recent social media post, Farrugia Cann revealed that he found it to be very difficult, if not impossible, to balance his duties as Infrastructure Malta CEO and international FIFA referee.

Whilst thanking the concerned parties for entrusting him with such a role, Farrugia Cann admitted that balancing the two important roles in his life was more difficult than he believed it to be. Working as an international FIFA referee requires a fair amount of travel and is not as compatible as once thought with the role of Infrastructure Malta CEO.

He went on to state that he does not want to sideline something which he built with much sacrifice in his football career and at that, he has informed Minister Aaron Farrugia that he will not sign the the contract to take on the role.

Former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says he’d ‘take a bullet’ for Vladimir Putin

Former Formula One boss and CEO Bernie Ecclestone has stated that he would “take a bullet” for current disgraced Russian president Vladimir Putin. This support from Ecclestone for Putin still comes even after the president’s order to invade neighbouring country Ukraine.

All of this happened in an interview that the British business magnate had with ITV’s “Good Morning Britain” where the presenters asked him if he was still friends with Putin. Ecclestone responded “I’d still take a bullet for him. I’d rather it didn’t hurt, but if it does, I’d still take a bullet because he’s a first-class person. What he’s doing (in Ukraine) is something that he believed was the right thing he was doing for Russia.”

The 91-year-old has reportedly been close friends with Putin ever since the introduction of the Russian Grand Prix held in Sochi, back in 2014. In the interview he went on to not only announce his support for Putin but also condemned Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky saying “I think if he’d thought about things, he would definitely have made a big enough effort to speak to Putin, who is a sensible person, and would have listened to him and could have probably done something about it.”

Ecclestone no longer has any ties with Formula One, after being moved aside since Liberty Media’s takeover in 2017 but still enjoys a high public profile. That is why following the controversial interview, an F1 spokesperson said “The comments made by Bernie Ecclestone are his personal views and are in very stark contrast to the position of the modern values of our sport.”

The former CEO was condemned by 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton who argued that an individual who appeared to support “killing” people should not be given a platform. Lewis also brought up the fact that Ecclestone was an “older voice” who no longer represented the sport. He continued by saying;

“We don’t need any more of it, to hear from someone that believes in the war, and the displacement of people and killing of people, and supporting that person [Putin] is beyond me,”

“I cannot believe I heard that. This is going to put us back decades, and we have yet to see the real brunt of the pain.
