North Korea reports that ‘yellow dust coming from China’ may bring coronavirus to Korea

Korean Central Television (KCTV) told its viewers that the dust, which experts say is a seasonal phenomenon, “could carry Covid-19 virus with it since it is an airborne disease”, according to BBC News.

Foreign missions also reported being told to keep their staff indoors and not open any windows, with the Russian embassy in Pyongyang writing on Facebook that it was taking measures due to “the expected dust storm”.

Pope may have been exposed to Covid-19 after meeting with Vatican diplomats, who later tested positive

Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana, Ambassador of the Holy See to Australia, had a meeting with Francis in the Vatican on 6 October, less than two weeks before the testing positive for Covid-19 in Australia.   

Pope Francis, 83, is highly vulnerable to Covid-19 due to his age, weight and loss of part of his lung during a childhood illness. He is currently being  monitored for the virus and any symptoms.

Poland now under ‘red zone’ lockdown

Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that the country will be entering a ‘red zone’ situation following the record-breaking announcement of 13,632 cases overnight. 

The ‘red zone’ measures include limited closure of schools and restaurants on top of the strict mask-wearing policy to make sure that the country’s economy picks up by spring time. 

The country’s national stadium is currently being turned into a hospital for Warsaw as the authorities continue to develop temporary medical facilities.
