The Alliance for Mental Health has expressed its deep concern and disturbance with the behaviour of certain individuals in the video shared by Times of Malta of a distressed individual who was considering taking his own life.

The organisation told Malta Daily that the general public must be educated that anyone on any ‘ledge’ is to be listened to, heard and helped and they are not there to garner attention.

Being in a state of extreme distress requires sensitivity for one to prevent it and any suicide attempt is to be dealt with the utmost care and respect because every life matters. A4MH went on to thank the police and emergency services for their hard work and commitment towards suicide prevention.

Obscure Feelings You Didn’t Know Had Names Part III

Obscure Feelings You Didn’t Know Had Names Part III

Rubatosis

Have you ever tried to sleep and yet the faint thudding sound of your heart beat kept bugging you? And as more time passes, the sound seems to be getting louder… and louder…

Rubatosis is meant to capture this slightly uncomfortable feeling of hearing your own heart beat – its an awareness we experience for different reasons – whether its an adrenaline rush or in absolute silence. And yet, it always remains unsettling.

Jouska

We’ve all had these – a hypothetical conversation that you compulsively cannot stop running through your head. For some reason, we sometimes don’t say exactly what we want to say when we need to. But when we’re taking a shower, all the responses come to us… a bit late now isn’t it?

Vemodalen

This is a weird one. It’s the frustration of photographing something amazing despite there being thousands of identical photos of it already in existence. It’s an original photo but at the same time, it isn’t.

Lachesism

A bit of a masochistic word which points to the desire to be struck by disaster. Whether its losing everything in a fire or surviving a plane crash, it could be a hint at desiring some new beginnings.

Exulansis

Have you ever tried to talk to someone about an experience but gave up because you just know they can’t relate to it. Exulansis refers to the tendency to do so – it’s a sad reminder of how indirectly detached we are from everything else.

Onism

This is the frustration of being stuck in just one body which can only inhabit one place and time. Its kind of like a cosmic FOMO and a reminder of how small we truly are.

Zenosyne – The realisation that, for some reason, times moves faster the older we get. When we were kids, time was an absolute stand still. But as we grow older, time just speeds by without a single break.

We desperately want to stop and enjoy moments. But time has other plans. This could be flipped to remember that all experience should be valued as much as possible even if it will speed by you at ridiculous speeds.
