No indication when upcoming heat wave will end

Malta Islands Weather have stated that there is, as of yet, no clear indication as to when the heat wave Malta is experiencing will pass. The temperature is set to increase well over 35 degrees Celsius, with reportedly no rest from the heat during night time either. Malta’s nights will reach over 25 degrees Celsius.

A heatwave is defined as a ’spell of three or more consecutive days with daytime highs exceeding the mean maximum temperature for that particular time of year by 5°C or more.’ This particular heat wave will increase it over 10°C.

The UV index will be at around 11+, meaning an increased risk of harm from exposure to sunlight. Maltese Islands Weather encourage people to take necessary precautions, with UV being highest in the early afternoon.

Martina Borg wins Serie B promotion with Sassari Torres

The foreign based Malta’s women international players ended their 2020/2021 season on a high after Sassari Torres win a Series B promotion. With Martina Borg on the team, Sassari Torres beat Ducato Spoleto 10-0 in their final Serie C game of the season.

Borg is a former Pembroke Athleta and Hibernians player, but started in role as midfield at Sassari as she made her 20th appearance for the Sardegna-based side this season. She scored five goals throughout. This marked Borg’s second year at Sassari, continuing to push the Maltese young women footballers’ achievements even further.

Fires break out in San Pawl il-Bahar hotel

Fires break out in San Pawl il-Bahar hotel

The Pebbles Hotel, which is located in Triq il-Kahli in San Pawl il-Bahar, was engulfed in flames around 9 a.m today. Around 100 residents and workers had to be evacuated after the fires broke out in the top floor, with the Civil Protection Department currently working tirelessly to control and extinguish the fire. Most of the residents, which amounted to around 100, were eating breakfast when the fire broke out.

There is currently no evidence that anyone was hurt due to the fire, with medics from the Emergency department of Mater Dei on the site addressing the situation as well. The reason for the fire outbreak is as of yet unknown, as several members from the Civil Protection Department, Rapid Intervention and District police on site investigating.

The search for Malta’s season 3 X-Factor is officially on

Following two successful seasons full of music and talent, season three of X-Factor Malta is now opening up its registrations to find the next talent. X-Factor has initiated its search by encouraging singers interested in the competition to apply by sending their name, surname and email address on WhatsApp at +35679202021.

Applicants are to include a clip of themselves or their band/group singing or performing. The team behind X-Factor will then reach out to the upcoming talent to begin their journey.

Season 1 of X-Factor crowned Michela Pace as victor, followed by Destiny Chukunyere in season 2. But the victors aren’t the only talent which emerged from the competition, with the likes of Owen Leuellen and FAITH making big waves in music.
