
Paceville police were kept busy over the weekend, beginning on the evening of Friday, 6th June, when officers on routine patrol spotted two individuals selling balloons filled with nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas.
Observations confirmed that the gas was being purchased and consumed on site. The sellers were stopped and 18 bottles of the substance were confiscated.
Later that evening, two individuals already known to police were found to be breaching their court-imposed bail conditions. Both were promptly arrested.
Around midnight, another man was observed trafficking cannabis. He was arrested and taken to court, where he pleaded guilty and received a 14-month prison sentence and a €500 fine.
At approximately 5:30am on Saturday, a man reported being robbed near Spinola Gardens.
Police accompanied the victim to patrol the area, leading to the quick identification of the suspect, who was found in possession of the stolen wallet and mobile phone. He was arrested, admitted to the charges in court, and was sentenced to three years in prison.
On Saturday evening, police were called to the scene of a traffic accident involving two cars. An argument broke out between those involved, and two of the five individuals were arrested for non-cooperation.
One of them assaulted an officer and was sentenced to three years’ probation after pleading guilty, with a protection order issued for the police.
