To celebrate Monopoly Day on November 19, Nike and Hasbro have launched an exclusive Monopoly edition honoring LeBron James.

This special set features custom game pieces inspired by James, including King James rings, sneakers, basketballs, and jersey-shaped tokens.

The game board itself showcases key moments from LeBron’s life and career, with custom “Bron Bucks” and milestone highlights.

As part of the launch festivities, a life-sized version of the board will be set up at House Three Thirty in LeBron’s hometown of Akron, Ohio.

Sixth to eighth graders from his I PROMISE School will get to experience the oversized game firsthand on Monopoly Day. Each attendee will also receive a MONOPOLY: LeBron James Edition game board along with products from the collaborative LeBron 22 x Monopoly collection.

Alongside the board game, Nike is also releasing two new LeBron 22 sneaker designs to mark the occasion: the “Currency” model, available on November 15, and the “Token” model, which launches on November 19.

This collaboration blends LeBron’s legendary influence in basketball and popular culture with the classic spirit of Monopoly, bringing fans a unique collectible.

The revitalization project at Dar il-Kaptan, a nonprofit providing respite services for over 240 people with disabilities and their families, is now in its final stages. This project, which focuses on creating a supportive outdoor space, recently received a visit from Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, Omar Farrugia. During his visit, Farrugia praised Dar il-Kaptan’s impact, noting that once the project is completed, its beneficiaries will gain access to an accessible, relaxing environment within the facility.

Farrugia emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to backing organizations that offer essential services, like Dar il-Kaptan, which aim to enhance community wellbeing. The project’s director, Silvan Magro, highlighted the open space’s transformation from an unused area into a welcoming, inclusive setting.

The phased project first involved redesigning the area, followed by planting trees and shrubs, installing new paving and pathways, and adding outdoor furniture and recreational equipment. Energy-efficient lighting and an irrigation system have also been incorporated to improve sustainability.

With an investment of approximately €500,000, the project is part of broader efforts by the Public Works Department to develop open spaces throughout the country. Farrugia was joined by Public Works Department Director-General Stephen Bonello during the visit.

Sicily Approves 2nd Inter-Connector Project For Malta

Sicily Approves 2nd Inter-Connector Project For Malta
Nov 14 2024 Share

Sicily has officially approved Malta’s plans to develop its second interconnector (IC2), enhancing Malta’s connection to the European electricity grid.

Known as the Intesa Finale, this approval marks a crucial step toward final authorisation from Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE). Following a positive consultation outcome, MASE’s approval is now the last step required for implementation.

Maltese Energy Minister Dr. Miriam Dalli expressed gratitude to Sicilian President Dr. Renato Schifani for the collaboration, noting that IC2 is key to Malta’s vision for sustainable energy and increased renewable energy use, advancing its decarbonisation goals.

The IC2 project will involve constructing a 122-kilometer, high-voltage cable—99 kilometers of which will be underwater—doubling Malta’s current electricity interconnection capacity.

Interconnect Malta (ICM), the entity overseeing IC2, has also been preparing for the project’s execution by initiating tendering processes for engineering, construction, and support services. Last week, ICM issued a notice for the construction of a shunt reactor at Malta’s Maghtab Terminal Station.

With a budget of €300 million, IC2 is co-funded by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), covering over half the cost. It is considered a project of strategic importance, supporting Malta’s energy security and EU-aligned green transition goals.
