Yulo, 24, from Manila, will be welcomed home to a hero’s reception, receiving numerous gifts from the government and various companies in the Philippines.

Whale Photobombs 2024 Olympics Surfers

Aug 8 2024 Share

The semifinals of the Olympic surfing competition in Tahiti were briefly interrupted by a whale, providing a spectacular photobomb as Tatiana Weston-Webb of Brazil and Brisa Hennessy of Costa Rica competed. The whale leaped out of the water safely behind the surfers, creating a memorable Olympic moment. Despite this, the competition continued with USA’s Caroline Marks winning gold in the women’s event, defeating Weston-Webb in the final after Weston-Webb had earlier triumphed over Hennessy in the whale-interrupted semifinal. The 2024 Olympics surfing event in Tahiti, far from Paris, coincided with the region’s whale migration season.
