Next two health conferences will be held on Wednesdays

For the next two weeks, the Superintendent for Public Health, Prof. Charmaine Gauci will be addressing Health Conferences on Wednesdays instead of Fridays.

This is due to the fact that the following two Fridays will fall on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

The conferences will still be held at 12.30pm on TVM, tvm.com.mt and live streamed on the saħħa page.

88 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 137 recoveries

Malta has registered 88 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,868 swab tests, while 137 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 16 cases were family members of previously known cases 12 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 6 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases and 4 were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 11,802 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 10,115 have recovered, 194 died and 1,493 are still active.

18 cars catch fire in Gudja following arson attack

A number of cars caught fire in Gudja last night at 11.45pm, completely burning 18 cars and causing damages to others.

Local police were called to the scene from the Civil Protection Department, successfully preventing any injuries.

The Police Arsons Unit and Żejtun District Police are currently investigating the case.

President Emeritus & MEP express concerns with Mrieħel Bypass plans

President emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and current MEP Alfred Sant have expressed concerns with the building of a flyover at the Mrieħel bypass, calling from transparency and accountability from local authorities.

Sant expressed issue with the flyover claiming agricultural land and justified any protests in the process.

Coleiro Preca expressed criticism with the project calling it ‘beggars belief’ and ‘destruction of national heritage.’
