For the first time since being crowned, Miss Universe Malta 2023 Ella Portelli has taken to social media to express how she is feeling after the emotional night.

In a lengthy statement posted on her Instagram, Portelli started by saying that she is “beyond honoured and grateful to have been crowned Miss Universe Malta 2023”, going on to say that the journey would not have been possible without Miss Universe Malta director Alan J. Darmanin and the rest of the Miss Universe organisation.

Portelli thanked her friends and family for being her ‘pillars of strength’ and also her Miss Universe sisters for naming her Miss Congeniality.

Finally, Malta’s Miss Universe 2023 thanked anyone who had been following her journey, stating “Your kind words, uplifting messages, and unwavering belief in my potential have touched my soul. I am humbled and overwhelmed by the love and positivity that surrounds me.”

A San Anton School teacher received quite a unique birthday greeting after a group of students created a Maltese-spoken educational video to wish her a happy birthday.

San Anton’s Ms. Christiana, who can only be assumed to be a Maltese teacher, received a surprise video featuring her students on the day of her birthday.

The witty and wholesome video featured the 30-year-old teacher’s students explaining the nuances of the Maltese language and the difference between ‘snin’ (year) and ‘snien’ (teeth) in the form of a poem.

A caption posted on the Facebook video read, “After the many TikToks Ms Christiana makes to educate us, it’s her turn to smile with a video made by her own students, with help from colleagues Ms. Roberta and Ms. Selene, Happy Birthday Ms. Christiana!”

Malta Police Take Elderly Home Residents On Weekend Boat Trip

In a wholesome moment for the Malta Police Force, the boys and girls in blue took elderly home residents on a season-appropriate boat ride to kickstart the summer.

In a recent Facebook post published by The Malta Police Force, members of the Birzebbugia elderly home were seen attending the boat trip accompanied by the home’s residence staff.

The police stated that they did their utmost “to ensure the safety and security of every individual throughout the journey, but also took the opportunity to engage and connect with our elderly community members.”

“Witnessing the genuine appreciation and happiness radiating from the elderly group truly warmed our hearts. It was a beautiful reminder of the positive impact simple acts of kindness and companionship can have on our community”, the post concluded.

Many took to the comments to congratulate the police for their efforts, with a staff member of the elderly home expressing how much the residents enjoyed it!

Haley Bugeja Confirmed To Be Joining Inter Milan

Maltese wonder-kid Haley Bugeja has been confirmed to be exiting Orlando Pride to join Italian side Inter Milan.

Bugeja spent on year performing in the American National Women’s Soccer League, with her last appearance taking place on May 11th when Orlando Pride went head to head with Washington Spirit to suffer a 4-2 defeat.

From being the fourth youngest player in the United States’ NWSL to a return to Italian football at Inter Milan, Bugeja’s spell with Sassuolo between 2020 and 2022 saw her make quite a name for herself in the international football sphere.

The 2004-born player will join Inter in late July’s pre-season, hoping to push the Italian side forward after their last fifth place league finish.
