Hugo’s Group continue to expand their exquisite and and locally beloved brand as a new VIP club is set to make its debut in Paceville. Following the refurbishment of both Club H and Footloose in the past months throughout the pandemic, this new instalment will be replacing Hugo’s Passion Club. Big investments will be going into this new establishment as it seeks to revitalise the Entertainment Mecca as it attracts more customers, tourists and reach new clubbing heights.

Fans of Hugo’s Group won’t have to wait that long either as this club is set to open in just a matter of weeks. A representative for Hugo’s Group stated that the club will have features which are not yet available anywhere on the Maltese islands, making it a very exciting first iteration of this concept. We’ll have to wait just a bit more though as Hugo’s Group gets ready to unveil their latest creation.

Civil Protection Malta members from various stations battled against raging flames which allegedly started at some point on Wednesday at night. Taking around 18 hours to be Brough under control, reopening the road adjacent to the scrapyard at 6pm yesterday after being closed due to investigation. The blaze engulfed the Marsa scrapyard, prompting a total of 35 officers and fire fighters to convene onto the scene.

Armed with 11 fire appliances, around 500,000 litres of water were used to put out the flames. The police or a magisterial inquiry will investigate the case further. Due to the amount of flammable material one could find in a scrapyard, the fires were extremely hard to control but thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. CPD thanked all its volunteers as well as NGOs, district police, water contractors, Water Services Corporation and Mater Dei’s emergency department for all their assistance.

Romanian footballers take to pitch with rescue dogs asking for adoptions

Romanian footballers take to pitch with rescue dogs asking for adoptions
Sep 17 2021 Share

Players from the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) are seeking to promote the adoption of dogs which are unguarded or live in kennels across the country. With an initiative called ‘Fill the void in your life’, players are taking to the pitch with the rescue dogs endowed with name tags. With all dogs vaccinated, sterilised and ready to be adopted, the initiative seeks to help reduce the amount of dogs stuck in dog shelters or running feral.

Animal shelters all over the world reported a slight uptake in dog adoptions as people sought companionship throughout the pandemic. However, with many people still preferring to buy a new puppy, adoptions still have a long way to go, even in Malta. Such initiatives, coupled with a sport or activity many people adore, could not only boost adoptions but make a furry friend extremely happy. Do you think we should try this out in Malta?

Barcelona were brutally defeated by three Bayern goals in the Camp Nou last Tuesday  as they opened their Champions League campaign.  A good performance was rare from the Barca team that night, but there were some players who stood out for all the wrong reasons with Sergi Roberto being one of them.

Sergi Roberto was subbed off in the 59th minute to a crowd of boos and jeers. The player didn’t have the best of nights, having had to defend against Leroy Sane and Alphonso Davies. The fans’ reaction towards his performance led him to cry in the changing room after the match. Fellow Catalan and Barcelona captain Gerrard Pique defended his teammate after the match saying  “It hurts me a lot personally because I know this person, he’s a spectacular human being and he loves this club more than anybody.” and  “I’d like to remind people also that he’s not a full-back… he’s a central player, a midfielder. He’s made a sacrifice to play this position and he’s done it phenomenally many times.”
