The Minister for Social and Affordable Housing, Roderick Galdes, inaugurated a new social housing project in Bormla.
“With an investment of just under half a million euros, today we can say that we have transformed an abandoned building into a wonderful social housing project in the heart of the community,” stated Minister Galdes.
He explained that extensive work was carried out to refurbish the building, including the addition of a new floor, resulting in three new social housing apartments.
“I am pleased to note that while we did the necessary work to breathe new life into this building, we also preserved its original features, including a well that was discovered. Therefore, the beneficiaries will enjoy the authentic characteristics that Bormla has to offer,” the minister continued.
This project, carried out in collaboration with the Housing Authority and Housing Maintenance and Embellishment Ltd, will offer a better quality of life to its beneficiaries.
The project has been warmly received by the local residents, as an abandoned building has now been returned to the Bormla community with beautiful aesthetics and a highly important social purpose.
“This project further demonstrates the continuous efforts we are making to transform our spaces into assets that will benefit society as a whole. A project like this reflects our government’s commitment to continue working towards providing social, affordable, and dignified housing for our people,” concluded the minister.
