New meat-free McPlant Burger launched by McDonald’s

New meat-free McPlant Burger launched by McDonald’s
Sep 9 2021 Share

McDonald’s have launched a meat-free burger which the fast food chain claims tastes just like beef. The McPlant Burger is already on sale elsewhere around the whole world, having just been introduced to the UK. It is a created partnership between US company Beyond Meat and McDonald’s, aiming to have the same texture and flavour of beef.

The burger is not only targeted at vegetarians or vegans but also ‘flexitarians’, those who enjoy a mainly plant-based diet but still dip their taste buds into the occasional meaty dish.

This newsroom contacted Malta’s McDonald’s team to inquire whether or not this burger will be made available to cater for Malta’s vegetarians/vegans. A spokesperson told MaltaDaily that the McPlant is one of the many McDonald’s products under consideration and that it may in fact come to Malta in due course. So Malta’s vegetarians and vegans – keep an eye out!

The Labour Party has called for an official rally at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali on the 20th of September. Prime Minister Robert Abela is set to address the crowd during the rally which will conclude the party’s general conference. The rally announcement will likely continue to fuel more rumours of an impending general election despite the Prime Minister himself being silent on whether it will occur this year or the next.

With the 2022 Budget announced for next October, the public is skeptical as to whether or not a snap election at the end of the year is in order. The rally does seem to be feeding into the election fever however, even though it will be mainly focused on conclude the discussions about education, social justice, Gozo, environment and Maltese politics as a whole.
