Nicky Ellul, a Maltese mountaineer, is preparing for a 2025 Mount Everest climb, with AQA Capital’s support.

Recently, he documented his training in the Alps, starting with a hike to Rifugio Chabod (2,710 meters) on July 14th.

The next day, he climbed Gran Paradiso (4,061 meters) but fell into a crevasse during the descent. Fortunately, he was unharmed, emphasizing the dangers of mountain climbing and the need for proper precautions.

Nicky then moved to Monte Rosa, hiking to Rifugio Città di Mantova (3,498 meters) and experiencing shortness of breath at this altitude.

On July 17th, he summited Vincent Pyramid (4,215 meters), Ludwigshöhe (4,342 meters), Schwarzhorn (4,321 meters), and Balmenhorn (4,167 meters). These climbs featured steep, technical summit pushes.

On July 18th, he climbed to Capanna Margherita (4,559 meters), Europe’s highest accommodation.

This successful acclimatization bolstered his confidence for climbing the Matterhorn. Starting from Hörnli Hut (3,260 meters) on July 20th, Nicky ascended the Matterhorn’s challenging Hörnligrat route, reaching the summit (4,478 meters) by 9:00 AM and safely descending over seven hours.

Good luck Nicky!

The start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games saw the likes of Lady Gaga and Celine Dion serenading spectators with their voices and performances as thousands gathered to witness the kick off to the events.

Organisers opted to host the ceremony throughout the entire city rather than in a single stadium, which is a decisive first in Olympic history.

On a rainy evening, thousands of athletes and performers paraded along the River Seine, with some countries sharing a vessel due to the small amount of competitors and other countries, like host France and the USA, filling up the boats.

The night concluded with the Eiffel Tower and the sky illuminated in vibrant colours, building up anticipation for days all centred around sports and athleticism.
