As Tesla developed its own independent strategy for vehicles and other technological advancements, Apple have revealed that their Apple Car could be introduced late this year. Renowned Japanese chemist Akira Yoshino spoke about Apple’s input into the world of automotive in a recent Reuters interview. Yoshino, inventor of the first safe, production-viable lithium-ion battery, stated that Apple could ‘lead the convergence of the automotive and information technology industries in future mobility.’

Apple has been reportedly working on self-driving cars since 2014 when around 1000 car experts and engineers began working under the codename ‘Project Titan.’ After initiating and dropping a deal with Hyundai, Apple was rumoured to be working on something similar with Kia. Yoshino said that if Apple plan to get in something by 2025, an announcement could come by the end of 2021.

TV presenter JJ Chalmers flown to Paralympics by pilot who flew him out of Afghanistan

Aug 30 2021 Share

TV presenter JJ Chalmers has recently revealed that the pilot who flew him to the Paralympics in Tokyo was the same pilot who flew him out of Afghanistan. JJ a former Royal Marine, was stationed in Afghanistan back in 2011. He was severely injured from an IED bomb blast and was immediately taken back to the UK by a hospital plane flown by a certain David Ellis.

David Ellis, when told he’ll be flying someone to Tokyo for the Paralympics, checked the passenger manifest to see if he recognises any names. When he saw the name JJ Chalmers, something immediately clicked. David then searched up the name JJ Chalmers on the internet and saw that he was injured in Afghanistan on the 27th of May 2011. He then went to check his old RAF flying log and, after doing the math, noticed that he had previously flown JJ back to the UK.

In an interview with  5 Live Breakfast, JJ recalls when he was told this news. He recalled: “She sort of brought me to one side… she said, ‘Mr Chalmers, am I right in saying you served in Afghanistan?’ And I was like, ‘Where is this going? What is going on here?‘

“And she said, ‘Our pilot actually flew you back from Afghanistan, flew you back into the UK when you were injured 10 years ago, and he’s noticed that and he’d like you to come this way, he’s going to take the plane off and then he’s going to come and have a word with you.’

“And I burst into tears, that was my reaction to that.”

After Afghanistan and his serious injury, JJ went on to forge an impressive career in media becoming a TV presenter. He was chosen to be Channel 4’s official journalist at the Paralympics, a task he describes as his dream job. He is also a medallist at the Invictus Games, an event founded by Prince Harry where injured or sick servicemen or woman compete.

Watch: Dog saves certain goal in Scottish game

Aug 30 2021 Share

In a recent video shared by Sky Sports, a dog saved a certain goal in a Scottish amateur game. The video went viral on Twitter as the original post uploaded by club Ferguslie Star A.F.C has now amassed over 1.1k likes and 301 retweets. A large feat for a Scottish amateur club.

This is not the first time a dog featured in a football game as many dogs have interrupted matches before. This is certainly the first time a dog affected a football game however. The opposing team did manage to score a goal as they smashed in home the rebound from the dog. So you can say that the dog either made a save or provided an assist.

Maltese generosity has been highlighted once again as in just a matter of hours from Puttinu’s first call for donations of PS4s, all rainbow wards were filled up with the consoles for kids to enjoy. As MaltaDaily, we are always on the lookout for good and heartwarming news, and we couldn’t turn a blind eye to yesterday’s event. Puttinu issued a post yesterday, thanking a kind benefactor for donating a Playstation 4 to the Rainbow Ward. It added how only 2 consoles were left to fully equip the rooms, and their call was answered in mere hours.

The following day (today), Puttinu issued another post thanking all the people who jumped at the opportunity to fill up the rooms with more consoles. The NGO stated how thanks to the donators, not only were the rooms equipped with PS4s but so were the playrooms and the adolescent rooms. What a wonderful gesture by the Maltese, making so many children happy through such hard times.
