The healthcare sector in Gozo is receiving a boost with an investment of over €7 million in new ambulances for the Gozo General Hospital, as announced by the Minister for Health and Active Ageing, Jo Etienne Abela. Given that the last investment in ambulances was several years ago, there was a pressing need for new vehicles to meet the needs of Gozitans. These new emergency ambulances adhere to safety standards, enhancing service quality and ensuring the safety of both staff and patients.
Minister Abela noted that the first two of six new ambulances have arrived, bringing advanced medical technology to Gozo. These ambulances are equipped with state-of-the-art tools and supplies, including advanced life support systems, defibrillators, and monitoring equipment, crucial for stabilizing patients during critical situations.
The new ambulances also feature advanced communication systems for better coordination with control rooms, hospitals, and other emergency services, improving emergency management. They are designed with materials and features that enhance infection control, vital in the context of pandemics and contagious diseases.
“This investment further demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the healthcare sector in Gozo,” concluded Minister Jo Etienne Abela.
