Nenu Praised For Keeping Streets Clean Even On His Off Day

Massive praised was showered on Karmenu, a local of St Paul’s Bay, who, despite being on his off day, still decided to take to the streets and clean up the rubbish left on the pavements and roads.

An image shared to local group ‘Proud to Live in St Paul’s Bay’ showed the elderly man cleaning up, despite not being required to. Instead, he used his free time to keep his surroundings clean.

Many commended him for his act, with one commenter saying that he would not have to continue what he is doing out of his own good will if we all were to be inspired by him.

Another suggested we reward Nenu with a ‘Gieħ ir-Repubblika’, which is an award handed to those who demonstrate exceptional merit in the service of the Maltese islands in some way.

Well done Nenu!

As 20 members of Malta’s Civil Protection Department battle the raging fires in Greece, a video uploaded to social media allows followers to get a glimpse into what challenges they are facing.

Speaking on behalf of the CPD, Chief Assistance Rescue Officer Michel Galea spoke about the various hurdles the team has had to overcome – including the intense heat as well as the unknown terrain.

However, this mission will serve as an opportunity to bring back valuable information back to Malta to deal with our own cases of wildfires should the situation arise.

The firefighters deployed in Greece were forming part of the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid mechanism.
