Nearly 1,000 Maltese Books Sent All Around The World For Maltese People Living Abroad

Over 850 Maltese books are being shipped to six countries as part of a new initiative to establish Maltese language libraries for diaspora communities in Australia, Canada, the UK, the US, Italy, and Belgium.

This project is led by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government. The effort also involves the Directorate for Consular Services and Maltese Living Abroad, Ċentru tal-Ilsien Malti, Malta Libraries, and the National Literacy Agency.

The first shipment has already arrived at the Maltese Embassy in Brussels, with other shipments on their way to embassies in the other countries. Each library will offer a wide selection of books in Maltese for all ages, including comics, popular stories, and educational materials like Maltese for Foreigners.

Topics discussed included what counts as a financial scam, common types of scams in Malta, recognising red flags, verifying whether a company or advisor is authorised, steps to take if you fall victim to a scam, educational initiatives and more.

In the second episode, insurance expert Edith Fenech Satchell shared crucial information about motor insurance claims — demystifying policy terms, outlining the claims process, and offering advice for those facing disputes.

Key discussion points included steps to take after a car accident, understanding one’s insurance policy, common reasons claims are rejected, whether insurance applies when someone else is driving your vehicle, the meaning of “policy excess” and “total loss“, cases involving uninsured or intoxicated drivers, how to dispute an insurance settlement and more.

These podcasts are part of the MFSA’s broader commitment to consumer protection and financial education. By equipping the public with accurate and accessible information, the Authority aims to foster a safer, more transparent financial environment for everyone.

Malta Complete Final Preparations Ahead Of Crucial Match

The Maltese National Women’s Team have completed their final preparations ahead of tonight’s decisive clash against Cyprus.

Sitting top of Group C1 with nine points from four matches, Malta leads Cyprus (seven points), Andorra, and Georgia (both on four).

A win at home tonight would secure a historic promotion to League B of the UEFA Women’s Nations League.

The match, set to be played at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium, kicks off at 19:00 and will be broadcast live on TVMsport+.

Expectations are high as Malta looks to make history on home soil, but regardless of the outcome, the nation remains proud of these remarkable women.

Works Underway To Make Victoria Lines More Accessible

Works are currently underway to restore and improve accessibility along the Victoria Lines, paving the way for Malta’s first national walking trail.

The trail will stretch from Fomm ir-Riħ to Madliena, offering locals and visitors a safer and more enjoyable way to explore the island’s historical and natural landscape.

Minister for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness Miriam Dalli, together with Ambjent Malta, the Ramblers Association, and the Għargħur Local Council, visited the site to mark the progress of the project.

“Many people already appreciate the Victoria Lines and others have heard about this place. Through this work, we are creating Malta’s first accessible national walking trail. This effort is important because it allows today’s and tomorrow’s generations to enjoy our country’s environmental and historical heritage. We should be proud that our country has an attraction like the Victoria Lines that is appreciated by so many who visit. It’s important that we make the best use of these natural spaces and, above all, take care of them,” said Minister Miriam Dalli.
