Nationalist Party Demands Removal Of Ministers Clayton Bartolo And Clint Camilleri

Nov 9 2024 Share

The Nationalist Party (PN) has criticized Ministers Clayton Bartolo and Clint Camilleri following the Commissioner for Standards’ report, which revealed their alleged abuse of power in hiring Amanda Muscat for a non-existent role.

PN stated that Muscat was paid nearly €70,000 despite lacking the qualifications for the job.

The PN emphasized that an apology from the Ministers is insufficient to absolve them of the fraud committed with public funds. Bartolo’s actions were seen as a desperate attempt to avoid the same fate as Justyne Caruana, who resigned after a similar scandal.

The Opposition Party also called for immediate police investigation and demanded the resignation or dismissal of the Ministers, accusing the Labour Government of prioritizing personal gain over public trust.

Online Searches For ‘Birth Control’ Spike After Donald Trump Election Win

Nov 9 2024 Share

After the Nov. 5 presidential election, online searches for “birth control” surged, along with concerns about potential bans on the medication.

At 4 a.m. on Nov. 6, following news that Republican candidate Donald Trump had won against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, Google searches for “birth control” more than doubled, according to Google Trends.

The states where the term was searched the most were all ones that Trump carried: West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Indiana. These states have implemented near-total bans or severe restrictions on abortion.

Along with searches for “birth control,” related terms such as “Is birth control being banned?” and “Is Trump going to get rid of birth control?” saw significant spikes in interest, highlighting public concern over the future of reproductive rights.

This increase in search activity reflects widespread anxiety about potential changes in healthcare policy following the election results.
