Nationalist MP Hermann Shiavone has pointed out on Facebook that health front-liners working with to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic should receive bonuses from all the fines issued out to regulation breaches. Enforcement authorities have allegedly gathered up around €317,460 from mask fines alone in 2021. MP Schiavone stated that the money should be put to good use, stating the government should consider handing out bonuses to all front-liners.
All health workers and front-liners have been struggling for well over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the vaccination rollout and restrictions bringing down total cases and pressure on medical system, the battle is still far from over, with workers still sacrificing a lot of their time and energy to help the country mitigate the virus.
