National Day Of Sport Celebrated At Marsa Sports Complex

Wife of the Prime Minister Dr. Lydia Abela collaborated with Education, Sports, Youth, Research, and Innovation Minister Clifton Grima to host a National Sports Day at Marsa Sports Complex. The event drew students from numerous schools across Malta and Gozo for a day filled with sports activities. Dr. Abela emphasized the values promoted by sports, such as inclusivity, respect, and discipline, underscoring their importance in children’s education. She expressed gratitude to all participants, particularly the children, for their active involvement.

Minister Grima reiterated the government’s dedication to fostering children’s participation in sports throughout the year, advocating for a healthier lifestyle. He encouraged society to recognize the significance of physical activity and increase engagement in sports.

Mark Cutajar, CEO of SportMalta, highlighted the importance of dedicating a specific day to sports activities, ensuring active participation. SportMalta’s initiatives, including the #BeActive campaign and European Week of Sport, aim to promote physical activity. The ministry is investing in school infrastructure to improve sports facilities for recreation and sports education.

The event featured various sports and activities like Zumba, races, and obstacle courses, fostering a culture of physical activity and healthy living among youth.

Malta Eurovision Song Contest contestant Matt Blxck will be presenting Malta’s points during the final night of this year’s competition.

Matt Blxck won the public votes, being a very popular candidate to represent Malta with his song ‘Banana’, but it was Sarah Bonnici’s ‘LOOP’ which ultimately came out on top.

So it is rather fitting to have Matt himself presenting the points on the final night, seeing as he is an iconic figure of the local version of the contest.

Throughout the month of April, thousands of families attended various open days held in various entities and organisations around the Maltese islands.

From the National Archives to the Disciplined Forces, and from EcoHive Academy to the Museum of Natural History, families were treated to educational entertainment in each of these open days.

Workers in the respective sectors provided the visitors with insider knowledge of what goes on into managing the area of interest – relating to history, the environment, safeguarding public safety and much, much more!
