Animal lovers in Valletta were joined by thousands around the world on Sunday, to commemorate THE 14th NATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY, in events held in over 160 major cities worldwide.
With events taking place everywhere from Los Angeles to Copenhagen, from Frankfurt and London to Paris and Hong Kong, Manila, the activities aim to raise awareness on the exploitation of non-human animals by, and for the gain of, humans.
The activities kicked off with a march from St. Georges Square leading up to Triton fountain, followed by a public requiem Ceremony in which individuals stood in unified formation cradling the pictures of animals who died as a result of human abuse and exploitation.
These posters, including chickens, pigs, cats, dogs, goats, birds, and many others, will then be arranged on the side as a tomb by the participating activists.
During the event, The Declaration of Animal Rights was proclaimed, and signed.
