Mya Azzopardi Breaks National Record At Championships

Malta’s Mya Azzopardi has just broken a long standing women’s national record whilst competing at the National Swimming Championships.

Mya brought down the 100m freestyle record to a new time of 57.75 during the long course nationals. This was a record that has been standing since 2008.

However that wasn’t all, as Mya also swam the 100 backstroke during the heats in a record time of 1:06:12!

Vigil Organised For Killed Cats In Sliema

A vigil was held yesterday evening for the killed cats in Sliema over the past weeks.

Reports had been issued by concerned citizens that cats were being assaulted and killed in the locality, with photos circulating of the poor creatures after their assault.

Citizens and animal rights activists gathered outside to light candles and called for action to be taken to find out the perpetrator of these horrific killings.

There is currently a €4,000 reward for any information that helps with the capture of the killer.

‘Justice for our cats Pupa, Maui, Chico, Buxa and others’, the vigil read.

Southern parts of Europe are currently experiencing intense heat, with temperatures soaring to 42°C in some regions.

The heatwave has prompted weather warnings across several Mediterranean countries. According to local weather source It-Temp Madwarna, the Azores anticyclone is extending into the Mediterranean. This high-pressure system is bringing with it stable weather conditions and persistently high temperatures.

Malta is in for a hot start to July, with high temperatures expected all week. Malta International Airport forecasts that it will feel as hot as 35°C by Thursday.

Being called up to the DJ stand by executive producer Ben Camille, Darlinka was met by cheers of support before her partner Matthew walked up for the pivotal moment.

And the romance in the villa continued to skyrocket as she gave a very enthusiastic yes to begin a new life with Matthew.
