He confirmed that a magistrate refused a request by the Police Commissioner to issue an arrest warrant against him and that he was sent home with his family after the interview.

Citing respect for his family’s privacy, particularly that of his three minor children, Aquilina said he would not discuss the matter further publicly.

He criticised the police leadership for allegedly leaking private information, noting that media were waiting for him upon his arrival at the police station.

Aquilina stated that he was stepping down from Repubblika with immediate effect to protect his family’s privacy and to avoid having the situation used against the NGO’s work.

He also announced the suspension of his role within the Fondazione Falcone and its General Council.

ALS Malta Launches Official Song Ahead Of Annual Telethon

ALS Malta Launches Official Song Ahead Of Annual Telethon
Jun 1 2025 Share

ALS Malta proudly unveils its 2025 campaign anthem “Miegħek Jien” (I’m With You), an emotional tribute to unity, strength, and love inspired by the journey of Bjorn Formosa and his wife Maria.

More than just a song, Miegħek Jien stands as a beacon of hope for those living with neurological conditions. It reminds us that DAR Bjorn and ALS Malta are always ready to help — that no one is truly alone.

Written and performed by Kevin Paul Calleja, with arrangement by Edward Abela (Midnight), the lyrics echo a promise of unwavering presence: “Kull fejn ser tmur… inkun miegħek jien.” These are the words Bjorn can no longer speak — but now they resonate powerfully through music.

“This song gave us the words we wished we could say,” Bjorn said. “I hope it helps others feel supported.”

The launch marks the end of ALS Awareness Month and sets the stage for the ALS Malta Telethon on Sunday 31st August 2025, raising funds for the final phase of the DAR Bjorn Respite project — a pioneering neurological care home.
