Motorcyclist sustains life-threatening injuries after coast road incident

A 42-year-old Italian man residing in St. Paul’s Bay has suffered life-threatening injuries following a motorcycle accident at 05.45am this morning.

The man was driving on the coast road when he crashed into van, driven by a 51-year-old St. Paul’s Bay resident.

A medical team was called on site where the ambulance took the motorcycle driver to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Investigations are currently underway.

Bernard Grech says he warned party not to take advantage of of jailing of Helena Dalli’s son

Bernard Grech, leader of the opposition, said that he insisted that party media should not take advantage when it comes to situations like the jailing of Helena Dalli’s son.

He said that it should not matter who the person is or what occupation they hold. He referred to the recent jailing of Helena Dalli’s son and how the media should report all facts in a just manner.

He also agreed with other politicians and activists that justice has taken too long to come to a decision on this case and that the man in question has since built a business and changed his life.

45 million litre reservoir to be used again

The Ħal Luqa reservoir was built over 120 years ago and can hold up t 45 million litres of water. Its depth is of 50 feet and is considered by many to be a sunken cathedral.

It has been empty for 6 years, and now the Water Corporation is intending to put the reservoir back to use. There seem to be no structural damages, and testing will be going on to ensure that it can still hold water.

Minister for Energy, Miriam Dalli said that this project will cost around half a million.

Four people arrested in relation to drug use and drug trafficking

Yesterday morning two people were acting suspiciously in Marsa, A 23-year-old man from Somalia and a 27-year-old man from Gambia. The two men were stopped and searched by the police. They had 31 packets of Cannabis, 13 pieces of Cannabis resin and 20 packets of synthetic drugs.

Both men will be taken to court later on today.

In another operation in Ħaż-Żabbar last Thursday, a BMW was stopped and searched, two people were inside, a 29-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man. A grinder with and 2 packets of suspected cannabis, as well as an iron fist, were found in the car and another 2 packets of suspected Cannabis were found on the man.

Both were arrested and taken to the Lock-up in Floriana and the women is expected to be taken to court later on today.
