Motorcyclist sustains grievous injuries following Hamrun incident

A 50-year-old motorcyclist from Marsa sustained grievous injuries following an incident in Hamrun on Wednesday morning.

District police and a medical team were called onto the scene at Triq il-Kbira San Ġuzepp where later, the man was taken to Mater Dei hospital.

He was driving a Junak 806 motorcycle, where he eventually lost control and fell. Investigations are currently underway.

Robert Abela congratulates Pete Buttigieg as he gets confirmed by US Senate

The US Senate has officially confirmed Pete Buttigieg for secretary of transportation, making him the first openly gay member of a White House cabinet.

Buttigieg has become popular for waving the Maltese in the United States, having a Maltese father and occasionally speaking in the native tongue.

Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela took to Twitter to congratulate Buttigieg, sending his regards from Malta as the Statesman forms part of what Biden calls ‘the most diverse cabinet in US history’.

Jeff Bezos shocks the world as he resigns from Amazon CEO: here’s why

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has become somewhat of a 21st century tech icon, constantly topping billionaire lists amongst others, but now he has shocked the world by announcing that he will step down as company CEO.

While maintaining the executive chair, he will hand over the torch to Andy Jassy for the simple reason that the transition will keep the company fresh and inventive, while doing the same thing over and over will become boring.

“If you do it right, a few years after a surprising invention, the new thing has become normal”, Bezos said, as the company continues to break financial records.

NHS Hero Captain Sir Thomas Moore dies at age 100

Captain Sir Thomas Moore, a World War II veteran whose efforts raised millions for the NHS, has died at age 100 after contracting COVID-19.

Captain Tom died in hospital on Tuesday after raising close to £33 million by doing laps in his garden during the UK’s lockdown.

Moore will forever be remembered for being a wonderful father, beloved veteran and activist and beacon of hope for the UK and the entire world.

RIP Captain Tom.
