The London Eye could be taken down by 2028 for ever

The London Eye could be taken down by 2028 for ever

One of London’s most iconic skyline attractions, The London Eye a.k.a The Millennium Wheel, could be taken down in just a few years.

The monumental attraction, which opened up on the 31st of December all the way back in 1999, could be removed by the year 2028 due to lease issues.

It initially only had a five year lease, which was then continuously extended, with the most current one running until the aforementioned year. The future of the wheel is yet to be decided, with its operator, Merlin Entertainments, applying to Lambeth Council for planning permission to keep it there for longer.

Merlin Division director Mike Vallis said that when the London Eye first opened, no one could have envisaged that it would become synonymous with the capital city.

‘As the capital’s most visited paid-for attraction, it continues to be enjoyed by millions of guests every year, it is now time for us to secure its long-term future through this application to Lambeth Council.’

So it instead seems as though the attraction could in fact remain there for all of London’s remaining history bar any surprising turn of events.

Suffice to say that Argentinian football star Lionel Messi has been the star of all of media as of late. Argentinian football fans have been partying ever since their historic win during the Qatar World Cup, with Buenos Aires seeing a massive crowd celebrating and literally naming streets after the player.

Now, one dedicated fan has decided to up the game by having the player’s face shaved onto the back of his head by his barber – and we’re impressed.

An Instagram snap posted by hairstylist Anton Barber from the Dominican Republic showed off the insanely accurate and realistic shave done on one of his clients.

This fan has single handedly levelled up the dedication to the football star – whereas some might sport the blue and white colours, we could say that having Messi staring at people from the back of one’s head takes the cake.
