Police were informed earlier today at around 0500hrs of an accident which occurred in Triq Buqana, Rabat.
Preliminary investigations showed that a collision had occurred between a Keeway Logik motorcycle driven by a 65-year-old Rabat resident and a Mercedes Benz driven by a 26-year-old Pembroke resident.
The motorcyclist was given immediate medical attention on site and taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified as having suffered grievous injuries.

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8th 2022, the Netflix series based around her life received a massive boost in terms of watchers wanting to find out more about the late monarch.
This also comes as the latest season of ‘The Crown’ postpones its filming in the wake of her death. The creator of the series described the semi-fictional drama a a loving letter to Britain’s longest serving monarch.
Creator Peter Morgan confirmed that the sixth season of the award-winning production will be suspended out of respect for the late Head of State.
The UK is now in a period of official morning, with her funeral due to take place within a fortnight. Queen Elizabeth died aged 96 surrounded by her family, leaving behind four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Morgan, who also wrote the 2006 film ‘The Queen’ said that there is nothing to add for now, ‘just silence and respect.’
The fifth season was also scheduled to air in November 2022, but given the sudden passing, it is not yet known if the proposed premiere will go ahead so soon. But a whole slew of fans are jumping onto the series as the UK enters a new era of monarchy to learn more about the renowned Queen.

Minister for Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri announced a brand new investment worth €1,290,000 into a Shooting Simulator for Malta’s Armed Forces.
The virtual simulator was inaugurated at the Armed Forces barracks in Hal Far and it aims to improve the training of soldiers in basic, advanced, static and tactical shooting.
Given the restrictions at the usual ranges in Hal Safi, Pembroke and in Gozo, the simulator should improve the training level of soldiers and assist them in taking tactical decisions in delicate situations.
Speaking at a press conference, Minister Camilleri said that this investment will give the possibility to Maltese soldiers to train in essential skills required for their military careers.
Camilleri said that he and his ministry are ready to keep investing into the country’s armed forces, announcing in the process the opening of applications for those interested in joining as soldiers or official cadets.

Bjorn Formosa’s health is currently in critical condition, having been taken to Mater Dei Hospital in order to save his kidneys due from severely painful kidney stones.
Doctors informed those close to Bjorn that he is facing a massive challenge ahead due to the impact the kidney stones are having on his well-being. Bjorn himself was ending up out of breath and unable to speak due to the intensity of the pain.
However, he was reported in saying, prior to his visitors leaving, that: ‘With or without me, the 25th of September marathon has to happen. We need to help lots of people.’
A statement by friends of Bjorn read: ‘You can’t not love him. He is in critical condition, and yet, he still has his mind set on helping others. Incredible… but that’s Bjorn. Keep him in your prayers!.’
