Motorcyclist Grievously Injured After Crashing Into Wall

A 40 year old man resident of St Julian’s was taken to Mater Dei Hospital yesterday at around 1500hrs following an accident in Triq l-Imdina, Rabat. 

Preliminary investigations showed that the man was driving a Ducati motorcycle but lost control and crashed into a wall.

He was given immediate medical aid by a team that arrived on site and then transported to Mater Dei Hospital. He was later certified as having suffered grievous injuries. 

Police investigations are still ongoing.

59% Would Not Own An Electric Car: 8% Already Do

Asking our followers on Instagram, 59% of respondents said that they would not own an electric car, compared to 41% who said they would. 

Meanwhile, 8% said that they own an electric car, compared to 10% who own a hybrid and 82% who own a fuel combustion engine.

Asking people why they would not own an electric car, 47% said that they are too expensive to buy or own, whereas 31% said that there are limited charging points. 

Another 22% said that they do not have a place to charge it at home. Asking for other reasons, some said that they are not yet feasible and/or sustainable.

Others touted a lack of planning by the authorities to improve the quality of the traffic system or even a lack of mechanics that work on electric cars. 

Others simply touted the joy they find in driving in a fuel combustion engine.

West End Wilma, a mother and son theatre blogging duo considered a giant in West End Circles, has taken to social media to highlight Malta’s very own ongoing third season of Brillanti: Musicals.

Taking to Twitter, West End Wilma re-shared a post uploaded by current judge Charles Brunton, writing: ‘This is well worth a watch!’ 

West End Wilma is also the host of the prestigious West End Wilma Awards, which celebrates the very best of UK Theatre, with the next edition taking place this January 21st. 

The post by Brunton was expressing gratitude for the wonderful messages being sent by UK audiences as they indulge in the third season of Joseph Chetcuti’s Brillanti.

This came right before the airing of the third episode which continued to showcase musical talent on the island, potentially leading to some of the contestants to further their career in high class theatre productions away from our shores.

Malta To Host Waterpolo Champions League Final-4 For Next Three Seasons

In a monumental moment for local sport, European Aquatics has announced that the Men’s Waterpolo Champions League Final Four competition will be hosted in at Malta’s National Pool Complex in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

The bid put forward by Malta’s Aquatic Sports Association (ASA) satisfies all European Aquatics criteria and has received full government support. The competition will welcome teams from all across Europe for one of the continent’s most prestigious water polo club competitions.

First Vice President Josip Varvodic commented that “Malta is well known for its love of water polo and the best players from all over the world come to Malta to play in local Clubs in the summer league.”

He went on to thank Sports Minister Clifton Grima for offering his unconditional support in hosting the event, together with ASA Malta President Karl Izzo who has lived waterpolo for his whole life.

Beginning in march, the 2023/24 Men’s Champions League Quarter Final Group Stage will feature remaining eight teams VK Novi Beograd, VK Jadran Split, Pro Recco, CN Marseille, Zodiac CNAB, AN Brescia, FTC Telekom Budapest and Olympiacos SFP.
