Three individuals were injured in two separate traffic incidents involving motorcycles on Sunday morning, prompting investigations by the police.
The first incident occurred around 9:30 am in Ħal-Luqa, where two motorcycles collided on Vjal L-Avjazzjoni. According to a police statement, the collision involved a 36-year-old Naxxar resident riding a Suzuki and a 35-year-old Ta’ Xbiex resident riding a Honda.
Upon arrival at the scene, medical teams attended to both riders before transporting them to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment. The 36-year-old was certified with grievous injuries, while the younger rider sustained light injuries. The police are currently investigating the circumstances of the collision.
Approximately an hour and a half later, at 11 am, another motorbike incident occurred at Ta’ Qali’s motocross track. An 18-year-old man from Rabat lost control of his motorcycle during riding, resulting in serious injuries.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, and the injured motorcyclist was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for medical treatment. Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia has initiated an inquiry into the incident, and the police are conducting investigations.
These incidents highlight the importance of road safety, especially for motorcyclists, and serve as a reminder for all road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations. Authorities continue to urge vigilance and responsible driving to prevent such accidents in the future.
