Mosta Shines Bright With Recording-Breaking Baubles

Malta Records has announced two new national records associated with Christmas, both achieved within the same private residence in Mosta.

The first record, achieved by the same individual, consists of the largest number of LED bulbs decorating the façade of a private residence. This includes an extraordinary total of 57,900 bulbs, surpassing last year’s total of 54,500 bulbs.

The second new national record is for the largest number of Christmas baubles hanging from the ceiling inside the same private residence. This includes a total of 2,325 baubles.

The records were set by Mr. Gaetano Buttigieg, also known as Gejtu, at his residence in Mosta. Once again, Mr. Buttigieg opened his home to the public and the press, sharing the beauty of the Christmas spirit.

Malta Records, along with everyone who witnessed this extraordinary event, commended Gejtu for his creativity and dedication to keeping these traditions alive.

Bugibba Couple Hosts Christmas Lunch for Those Spending the Holiday Alone

In the spirit of giving, Brendan Jackson and his girlfriend Lara are opening their Bugibba home this Christmas Day to individuals feeling lonely or down during the holiday season. The couple is hosting a free Christmas lunch on Wednesday, 25th December, starting at 12:00 pm sharp.

Brendan and Lara emphasise that everyone is welcome, regardless of nationality, gender, or background. “We don’t care if you’re black, white, gay, trans, religious, male, female, or even an alien. Everyone is accepted in our home,” Brendan shared.

However, the hosts have respectfully requested that young children, vegans, and vegetarians refrain from attending, as they won’t be able to accommodate alternative meal requests. The lunch menu includes a starter of soup and a main course of roast chicken with Maltese potatoes.

While the event is free, attendees are encouraged to bring a bottle of wine if possible. For those unable to do so, Brendan and Lara assure that they will still be warmly welcomed.

Space is limited, so anyone interested is asked to message Brendan privately to secure a spot.

This heartwarming initiative exemplifies the Christmas spirit, offering companionship and a festive meal to those who might otherwise spend the day alone.

Prime Minister and Dr Lydia Abela Visit Children in Hospital on Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, Prime Minister Robert Abela and his wife, Dr Lydia Abela, brought festive joy to young patients at Mater Dei Hospital and the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre. Accompanied by Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela, they distributed gifts collected through the ‘Rigal b’Imħabba’ (‘Gift with Love’) initiative, now in its fifth edition.

Dr Lydia Abela expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming generosity of the Maltese and Gozitan people, stating, “I continue to admire the values of solidarity shown by the Maltese and Gozitan people.”

Prime Minister Abela highlighted the importance of remembering those hospitalised during the festive season, noting, “Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces today reminds us of the strength and resilience they show every day.”

The ‘Rigal b’Imħabba’ initiative, led by Dr Lydia Abela, has become a cherished annual tradition, collecting hundreds of gifts for children in need. This year’s event featured a festive Christmas village in Castille Square, where families and local councils contributed generously.

During their visit, the Abelas also met with representatives from Puttinu Cares, an organisation dedicated to supporting families of children undergoing treatment. They acknowledged the dedication of healthcare professionals and volunteers who work tirelessly to provide care and support to young patients and their families.
