Miriana Conte Signed With Sony Music

Malta’s Eurovision 2025 artist, Miriana Conte, has officially signed with SONY MUSIC — marking a major international milestone in her career.

The revamped version of her track ‘SERVING’ has now been officially released under the iconic label, following its debut on the Eurovision Song Contest’s YouTube channel, where it quickly became a fan favourite across Europe.

With its infectious beat, unapologetic energy, and Conte’s commanding vocals, ‘SERVING’ is already being tipped as one of this year’s most commercially promising entries.

In a move that echoes Malta’s 2021 success with Destiny’s ‘Je Me Casse’ — also under SONY MUSIC — the label showed early interest and finalized a licensing partnership with Malta’s National Broadcaster.

SONY MUSIC has also re-issued the original version of the song, previously titled ‘Kant’. Although this version features censored lyrics and is not part of the official Eurovision competition, it is now available on all major streaming platforms under the name ‘SERVING KANT’ to avoid confusion.

Known for her bold energy, fierce choreography, and fearless stage presence, Miriana Conte is quickly emerging not only as a Eurovision contender, but as a breakout artist to watch on the global pop scene.

All Set For Fireworks Festival Finale On Wednesday

Eighteen fireworks teams, including 17 local groups and international company PyroEmotions, are set to light up the Grand Harbour on Wednesday, 30th April, for the grand finale of the Malta International Fireworks Festival.

Organised by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), the event celebrates Malta’s rich pyrotechnic heritage, combining tradition, creativity, and entertainment.

The finale will include a spectacular drone and fireworks display featuring over 500 drones in a synchronised show, a first for the Maltese Islands. This year’s edition also marks the 21st anniversary of Malta’s accession to the EU.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg, alongside MTA CEO Carlo Micallef, met with some of the participating teams during Tuesday’s preparations. Among the 18 performing teams will be Għaqda tan-Nar Kerċem, last year’s winners.

The night will also see the announcement of the 2025 competition winners, following performances on 22nd and 25th April in the Grand Harbour, and on 27th April in Nadur, Gozo.

This year introduced band club performances to the festival, with Soċjetà Mużikali tal-Karmnu Balluta A.D. 1987 performing on Wednesday. Dr Borg praised all participants, noting that the festival drew over 80,000 online viewers and continues to be a major cultural attraction for both locals and tourists.

Malta With 3rd Lowest Road Traffic Deaths In EU 2023

According to data released by Eurostat, Malta had the third lowest rate of road traffic fatalities per million inhabitants in the year 2023.

This would translate to around 15 fatalities per 500,000, which is the approximate population of Malta as of 2025.

The country with the lowest rate was Sweden, with 22 fatalities per million inhabitants, followed by Denmark with 27 fatalities.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria and Romania both registered 81 road fatalities per million inhabitants. Latvia followed suit with 75.

The EU average was 46 fatalities in 2023.

New Visitor Booking System For Blue Lagoon Announced

Starting Thursday, 1st May 2025, a new online booking system will regulate visitor numbers at Comino’s Blue Lagoon to help protect its fragile ecosystem.

This initiative, led by the Malta Tourism Authority in partnership with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism and other stakeholders, is part of a broader plan to boost sustainability and improve the visitor experience at this Natura 2000 site.

The system, themed “Book, Protect, Enjoy,” requires all individuals or groups arriving by private or commercial vessels to pre-book their visit at bluelagooncomino.mt.

Visitors can choose from three daily time slots: 08:00–13:00, 13:30–17:30, or 18:00–22:00.

After entering basic details and an email, users receive a unique QR code to present upon arrival. In exchange, a wristband granting access for the selected time slot will be issued.

Unauthorised access will not be allowed and may incur fines. Previously, the site saw up to 12,000 visitors at once during peak periods. Under the new system, only 4,000 visitors will be allowed at any one time. Staff will assist with the transition during the initial weeks.

This is the first step in a two-year project by Team Blue Lagoon. Further improvements coming in 2025 include expanded swimming zones, enhanced waste management, new sanitation facilities, and tighter enforcement. Consultations on long-term environmental measures will begin soon, with full implementation expected by summer 2026.
