Apr 7 2022 Share

Posting to social media, Minister for Environment, Energy and Enterprise Miriam Dalli announced how Malta has once again registered a decrease in unemployment.

She went on to highlight how the pharmaceutical and life science sectors offer new quality jobs and opportunities to over 1,100 people in Malta. ‘This means that in these sectors we saw a 7.3% increase in work opportunities throughout the pandemic’ said Dalli.

The Minister gave credit to the resilient industry and the diversification of our country’s economic model for this success. This follows the inauguration of a direct foreign investment €16 million from the company A2W Pharma.

The company chose Malta to expand its operations and research and develop new innovative products in the pharmaceutical and science sectors. The company Amino Chemicals, which has been working in our country for the past 30 years, will be able, through this investment, to open a subsidiary company to produce products related to medicinal cannabis.

Malte Enterprise Chief Executive Kurt Farrugia exclaimed how through this medicinal cannabis sector, even more opportunities will be created. He explained how Malta is becoming part of a massive international chain in this sector.

Kardashian has managed to make over $1 billion in the two and a half years she’s been in business. She’s partnered with Fendi for a quickly sold out collaboration and is now setting her sights on a new project.

Kardashian managed to score four OG supermodels who were all former Victoria’s Secret angels; Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Alessandra Ambrosio and Candace Swanepoel. This is the first time they’ve all starred in a campaign together.

In the new campaign, the models pose wearing different shades of the now cult-favourite ‘Fits Everybody’ Skims Collection. This is the brand’s signature collection of bodysuits, loungewear, underwear and bras.

Despite the campaign itself not featuring every body, the collection does go up to a size 4X to make sure it is as inclusive as possible. Some did criticise the campaign as countering the goal, but Kardashian said that each model played a role in shaping the industry.

One of the models, Tyra, wrote on Instagram, saying that she was the first Black Victoria’s Secret contract model ever. ‘To the new collective of badass ROLE models, I may have cracked that door open, but y’all are charging through.’

Apr 7 2022 Share

Zak & Benji, co-founders of ANCHOVY. plc and James & Matthew, co-founders of NIU Ltd. have announced the formation of a comprehensive technology and digital services group, known as Capital 9H Ltd., with the goal of creating the largest digital services offering in Malta and paving the way for an international growth programme in the rapidly growing sector. Subject to regulatory approval, both ANCHOVY Studios plc and NIU Ltd will now form part of the group, paving the way for the shaping of a leading digital technology player in Malta.

Capital 9H Ltd., will lead, own and manage both companies’ local market leadership position and technology talent base as an integrated digital offering providing each client-base with end-to-end digital services that will support them in their digital transformation journey. 9H plc is a result of the converged vision of the four founders, strengthening the local market offering whilst embarking on an exciting roadmap to internationally expand the group’s operations in the Middle East being the first territory to be targeted.

ANCHOVY plc, Malta’s leading digital agency that enjoys international recognition, disrupted the space years ago by establishing operations in the Middle East. By joining forces with NIU, Malta’s largest web technology, development and integration firm, the group is set to become the natural digital transformation partner for local businesses irrespective of size or maturity.

Founders, Benji Borg, James Abela, Zak Borg and Matthew Sammut believe this to be a major milestone in the evolution of Malta’s digital economy, reflecting the transformation aspirations of the country. They also underline the group’s intention to grow further by attracting other ventures with similar aspirations into its structure.

“The companies are a perfect complement to each other in terms of structure, function and culture. We believe that this new holding company, Capital 9H Ltd., will serve as a platform for more firms to join this journey, and attain their goals on an international stage. We are determined to keep extending our capabilities across the regions we operate in, partnering up with iconic brands in this increasingly always-on digital era”

Bernard Grech’s fate as PN leader to be decided as process starts

Bernard Grech’s fate as PN leader to be decided as process starts
Apr 7 2022 Share

The Nationalist Party has kicked off the process towards convening a general council, which will confirm if Bernard Grech will retain his position as party leader after the general election loss.

The party statute demands that following a general election, the party members must be given a chance to vote on whether or not to confirm the leader in office. That process started with a meeting of the party’s administrative council on Wednesday night.

A meeting will be held by the party executive, which sources claim will be delayed until the party’s parliamentary group is completed. The party still needs to elect 13 new MPs.

Seven of them will bee elected through the casual election on Tuesday, and will have to add six MPs through the gender balance mechanism. General election candidates are allowed to contest in two voting districts but must drop their seat in one.

Party sources said once the PN’s parliamentary group is complete, an election will determine who of the 13 MPs sitting on the executive committee have a vote. Following a statue change in 2020, the PN will only have on deputy leader. Robert Arrigo, who held this position, said this week that he will not seek election to any post within the party once the term expires.

Th other deputy leader, David Agius, who is responsible for parliamentary affairs, has not indicated if he will seek re-election. Arrigo had also tweeted out ‘Please help us Roberta’ when Bernard Grech announced that he will still contest PN leadership.
