Last Friday, 27th September, Domain Academy hosted a memorable graduation ceremony at Hilton Malta, celebrating the accomplishments of 180 students from 17 different nationalities. Over 600 guests, including VIPs and distinguished speakers, gathered to mark the special occasion.

Graduates were recognised at Masters, Bachelors, and Diploma levels, with qualifications awarded by the University of Derby, Pearson EdExcel, Qualifi, and Domain Academy. This year’s event also commemorated a decade-long successful partnership with the University of Derby.

Ms. Agius Barbuto, a graduating student, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasising that “Graduation is not merely a ceremonial rite of passage; it is a testament to our perseverance, commitment to growth, and readiness to face the future confidently.” She reflected on the transformative journey of students from diverse backgrounds, united by a common goal to learn and grow.

MCAST Students to Protest Ongoing Unresolved Agreement

Oct 3 2024 Share

MCAST students are increasingly frustrated as they prepare to stage their third protest of the year, demanding a resolution to the ongoing dispute between the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) and the government.

The stalemate has left both students and lecturers in a difficult position, particularly as the new academic year has commenced without a resolution.

The protest is scheduled for Friday, 11 October, at 11:45 AM in front of the MCAST Paola canteen. Emma Brownrigg Fenech, a journalism student and former KSM Vice President, will lead the demonstration, calling for immediate action to address the situation.

Compounding the issue, recent directives effective from 4 October have strained the relationship between lecturers and students. These directives impose strict limits on communication, restrict extracurricular activities, and withhold academic feedback, leaving students uncertain about their academic progress.

“MCAST students and lecturers are being treated unfairly, and we will not stand by while our education is compromised,” said Brownrigg Fenech. “Students deserve clarity on their academic future, and lecturers deserve fair wages. We are protesting to end this injustice.”

As the situation continues to unfold, MCAST students remain resolute in their demands for change and support for their lecturers.
