The museum, housed in a four-level building spanning four thousand square meters, marks a significant milestone in Malta’s cultural landscape.
The project has entered its final stages, with a total investment of €13 million, of which €8.2 million has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
MICAS is part of a larger initiative that includes spaces for artists, gardens, public areas, and offices, integrated with the restoration of the surrounding fortifications. The entire development represents a €30 million investment.
Once open, the museum will provide exhibition spaces for contemporary art and installations, showcasing both Maltese and international artists. MICAS aims to become a vibrant hub for the contemporary art scene, promoting creativity and cultural exchange on both a local and global scale.
