She said, “Ten months ago I was re-elected as President of the European Parliament, a role that carries global responsibility not just for the EU, but especially for Malta. Metsola has confirmed she will not be running for the leadership of the Nationalist Party following Bernard Grech’s unexpected resignation earlier this week.
She added that every political decision she makes is thoughtful and determined, always driven by what is best for the country. Metsola explained that the timing and seriousness of the challenges facing Europe right now require her full focus. “My commitment cannot be divided,” she said.
Metsola promised to fully support the next PN leader in any way she can. “We can win the election and save our country if we work together,” she added.
