In Ħ’Attard, work is underway to upgrade the electrical distribution system with the installation of 3.6 kilometres of new cables to enhance the existing network.

Energy Minister Dr. Miriam Dalli and Enemalta Executive Chairman Inġ. Ryan Fava visited the site to provide details of the project. The new cables will improve connectivity in the locality, boosting the resilience and flexibility of the electrical grid.

Minister Dalli emphasised that this investment reflects the Government’s commitment to modernising technology and electricity infrastructure.

“These new cables will improve connectivity and help us create a more flexible and resilient electrical supply,” she stated.

Along with the cable installation, switchgear at local substations will be upgraded to further strengthen the distribution system. Inġ. Ryan Fava, Executive Chairman of Enemalta, highlighted that this project builds on previous work, including the installation of over 82 kilometres of underground cables last year.

He stressed that the strategic investment will enhance local connectivity and ensure a more sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure.

This initiative, carried out in collaboration with Infrastructure Malta and Transport Malta, is part of a broader effort to install 60 kilometres of underground cables across 21 localities in Malta and Gozo.

Work is currently ongoing in 15 localities, with some projects nearing completion and entering the final testing phases.
