Addressing the European Parliament for the last plenary of the current mandate, Maltese MEP Cyrus Engerer delivered a speech in French.
‘From my first days in the European Parliament, I wanted to find the courage to speak at least once publicly in French by the end of the mandate’, explained Engerer on social media.

‘My assistants held me to the challenge and in the last plenary of this mandate, I delivered a speech en français.
The speech had to do with the 10 year anniversary of the European Commission and European Council’s decision not to reform the European Parliament’s right to carry out public inquiry.
‘Enhanced transparency and institutional oversight are essential elements of any democracy’, said MEP Engerer.
