Melita FC Team Celebrate Victory During Coach Interview

As Melita FC head coach Clive Mizzi was addressing an interview following his team’s declaration as Challenge League 2023/24 Champions, the players jumped in to continue their celebrations.

Coach Clive was doused in water as the players huddled up to chant and jubilate over their success.

Melita FC rose to the top of the league after beating Marsa 1-0, with their official trophy awarding set to take place this coming weekend.

This comes as one of Melita FC’s players, Matthew Debattista, reaches the important milestone of 100 Melita appearances during the match against Marsa, ever since his team debut back in November 16th 2019.

‘A massive well done to everyone involved in this great achievement! Congratulations to all the players, coaching staff, administration, sponsors and committee for their hard work’, the team wrote on social media.

On Saturday afternoon, President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono welcomed European Parliament President Roberta Metsola to Sant’Anton Palace.

President Spiteri Debono expressed her desire to cultivate goodwill and trust among those pivotal in effecting change, emphasizing the importance of encouraging voter participation in the upcoming June European Parliament elections.

She expressed gratitude to Dr. Metsola for her visit.

In response, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola congratulated President Spiteri Debono on her appointment, describing it as a significant milestone in Malta’s history.

She expressed optimism that President Spiteri Debono’s tenure would positively impact Maltese society, fostering unity and promoting increased civic engagement, particularly among young people.

Once again, the annual festival of lights in the historic city of Ċittadella, Gozo transformed the streets of this old city with thousands of intricately designed candles.

Meticulously adorned artefacts were scattered throughout the fortified city, with a whopping 22,200 candles illuminating the pathways and picturesque landscapes.

Visitors were also treated to a plethora of activities such as historical reenactments, free museum admissions as well as live entertainment.

31-Year-Old Żebbuġ Resident Dies After Sliema Ceiling Collapse

A tragic incident occurred in Sliema when a building’s ceiling collapsed, leading to the death of a man. The Malta Police Force was summoned to St. Ignatius Street at approximately 9:45PM following the accident.

Preliminary findings reveal that two Albanian workers were present in a residential construction zone when the mishap happened. One of the workers, aged 31 from Żebbuġ, narrowly escaped the debris and received immediate medical attention. He was subsequently transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Officials from the Civil Protection Department were also deployed to aid the other victim, a 51-year-old man from Żebbuġ, who was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are currently under way.
