Trafficked Colombian Prostitutes Served Over 2,000 Clients In 3 Months

Trafficked Colombian Prostitutes Served Over 2,000 Clients In 3 Months
Sep 4 2024 Share

A group of Colombian women, trafficked to Malta, were forced to engage in prostitution, serving over 2,000 clients in just three months, Times of Malta reported.

The operation spanned multiple brothels in Msida and Gżira, allegedly run by nine individuals who face various human trafficking charges.

The women were deceived with promises of luxury accommodations and high earnings but were instead confined to apartments, where they were forced to work off their fabricated debts.

Controlled by a criminal network, they had minimal freedom, only leaving the premises for food or photoshoots to promote their services online.

The accused reportedly organised the operation meticulously, with defendants taking turns supervising the brothels, controlling the women’s movements, and monitoring activities via live cameras.

They communicated with the victims through phones held by the traffickers, issuing instructions and ensuring compliance.

Despite the harsh conditions, the traffickers insisted on keeping clients satisfied, even pressuring the women to meet unsafe demands. The women were also constantly under surveillance, with limited autonomy.

Notre Dame To Reopen After 2019 Fire This December

Notre Dame To Reopen After 2019 Fire This December
Sep 4 2024 Share

Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris is set to reopen its doors on December 8th, after a five-year restoration following the devastating fire of April 2019.

The official inauguration and handover from the State to the Catholic Church will take place on December 7th, marked by a liturgical celebration, the awakening of the organ, and the blessing of the restored cathedral.

Though much of the restoration work has been completed, several tasks remain as more than 500 craftsmen and specialists continue their efforts to restore the cathedral to its former glory.

The reconstruction of the broken vaults and destroyed roofs was a major undertaking, with reassembling the collapsed spire posing significant challenges. Symbolic elements, such as the mediaeval statue of the angel with the trumpet, have been returned to their rightful places after careful restoration.

Inside, the cathedral’s walls will be covered with a light ochre coating, giving the church a brighter, more luminous appearance. The organ has been reinstalled, though not yet operational, and the bells are set to arrive in the autumn.

While the structure has been restored to its original grandeur, debates persist about the interior renovation and the liturgical equipment, which will be among the final additions before the reopening.
