Data has shown that Malta currently has the lowest number of Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) COVID-19 admissions in the European Union. With 0.3 patients per sample of 100,000 people in intensive care, Malta’s ITU was the lowest in the EU based on data published by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

The data, published on Friday, covers the period which ends last Sunday, with four patients in the ITU. The ECDC also has highlighted that Malta’s general hospital occupancy rate stands amongst the lowest in the EU, despite being higher than the previous ITU statistic with 11.1 per 100,000. The only countries to have lower hospitalisation rates than Malta are the Netherlands, Spain and Luxembourg.

Despite this, local health authorities have insisted on the essential nature on continuously monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Malta and beyond, with the ECDC still considers Malta as a major concern, giving it a nine out of 10 score and thus classifying it as of “very high concern.”

Woman breaks record for most chicken nuggets eaten in one minute

Apr 2 2022 Share

Competitive eater Leah Shutkever has just broken the world record for most chicken nuggets eaten within one minute.

The UK competitor secured the title after eating a whopping 19 nuggets in one minute, equating to 352 grams worth of nuggets, beating competitive eater Nela Zisser’s record of 298 grams worth of nuggets in 60 seconds.

Shutkever’s Instagram bio suggests that she holds 27 food-related Guinness World Records with other feats including most jam doughnuts in three minutes, most lasagne in 30 seconds and fastest time to eat a cucumber.

A statement by the official Guinness World Records team said that “Although she ‘only’ managed to eat 19, leaving the record holder disappointed about her performance, she still surpassed Nela’s previous result by 54 grams.”

Two years ago, she smashed the record for eating most chicken nuggets within a span of three minutes, crushing 775.1 grams worth of nugs.

Do you know someone who would be willing to challenge her record?
