Yorgen Fenech bail hearing judge bought yacht from Fenech’s father in 2008

Aug 19 2021 Share

Documents have shown that judge Giovanni Grixti, the judge responsible for the decision of whether or not Yorgen Fenech should be given bail, had bought a 50-foot yacht from Fenech’s father George.

On Thursday, Matthew Caruana Galizia posted a transcript for the purchase of the yacht ‘Spensierata’ back in 2008, at which time Grixti was a magistrate before being appointed a judge in 2015.

Jason Azzopardi highlighted that the published documents are proof that Judge Grixti had conducted business with Fenech’s father, “the same judge who in 2019, told Simon Busuttil that the Panama Papers are speculation.”

The PN MP went on to state that the judge should have never been responsible for the decision to grant bail to Fenech. It has since been revealed that Fenech attempted to buy grenades, poison and pistols from the dark web a year after Caruana Galizia’s car bombing in 2017.
