McDonald’s and Beyond Meat announce plant-based options

Feb 26 2021 Share

Two food giants, fast-food chain McDonald’s and vegan brand Beyond Meat, have partnered up for a 3 year deal to release plant based options for their customers. The new platform McPlant will be an option for vegetarians and vegans, opening up the menu possibilities for McDonald’s fans. McDonald’s Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer Francesca DeBiase says that this is a perfect place for innovation so as to bring high-quality and delicious plant-based menu items.

The seeds of this partnership started in 2019 as McDonald’s began testing P.L.T (Plant, Lettuce and Tomato) burger in select Canadian branches. Beyond Meat was then revealed to be the chain’s preferred supplier of plant-based products. But it doesn’t stop there as Beyond Meat is partnering up with Pizza Hut, KFC and Pepsi – giving the plant-based line more reach.
