Maxine Formosa Gruppetta, who won Miss Universe Malta 2022, is on her way to represent her country for the 71st edition of the Miss Universe competition in the US.

The Maltese lira was the official currency of Malta between 1972 and 2008 before it was eventually replaced by the euro.

The costume features a big back piece in the shape of a coin depicting the Maltese coat of arms, which signify the courage and determination of the country.

Maltese fashion designer duo Charles & Ron created the collection piece, depicting the LM10 banknote but digitally manipulated into graphic design. The full costume is then completed with boots by Albano and pieces of jewellery from Carisma Collections.

The former Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo said that his work in Europe is done, describing his multi-million deal with Al-Nassr as a ‘unique contract for a unique player’.

The player, who agreed to a deal said to be worth £175million annually last week, was introduced in front of 25,000 supporters at Mrsool Park in Riyadh as ‘the world’s greatest footballer.’

Fireworks, flares and strobe lights introduced the football star to his new football team fanbase. The 37-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford was terminated in November but was criticised for quitting the European game and taking the Saudi money.

‘For me now, it is a new challenge in Asia. I’m grateful that Al-Nassr have given me this opportunity to develop not only the football, but also for the young generation, the women’s generation. I want to change the mentality of the new generation’ explained Ronaldo.

“We lost a man of the people”: Tributes pour in for Silvio Parnis

“We lost a man of the people”: Tributes pour in for Silvio Parnis
Jan 4 2023 Share

Following the passing of former Labour MP Silvio Parnis at the age of 57 due to a battle with cancer, tributes flooded social media mourning the death and sharing experiences they had with the politician.

Having served as a member of parliament for 24 years, he had most recently taken on the portfolio of Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing and Persons with Disability.

Prime Minister Robert Abela himself said that Malta has lost ‘a man of the people’ who always turned the discussion towards the needs of the people.

Opposition leader Bernard Grech too posted a tribute to Parnis and highlighted the late politician’s drive to put the needs of the vulnerable ahead of his during his work.

Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat recounted how he had one of the few last interactions with Parnis prior to his passing and also went on to champion the late politician as one who places the needs of society’s most in need before everything else.
