Reigning world champion Max Verstappen has won the Barcelona Grand Prix to overtake Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc to first places in the drivers standings. The race started with Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc at pole and  having a great start to the race distancing himself from his challengers. Unfortunately for him it wasn’t to be as in the 29th lap he was forced to retire due to his engine stopping midway through a lap. This opened the door for the two Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez and the Mercedes of George Russell to try and win the league.

Lewis Hamilton had a very torrid start to the race, even asking his engineers to retire from the race after he and Kevin Magnussen made contact leading him to start over again at the back of the grid. Despite this disappointment the 7 time World Champion continued to race and managed to finish the race in an unexpected 5th place.
