2 Maltese Journalists To Shed Light On Ukraine’s Frontline Medics In New Documentary
Apr 24 2025 Share

Two Maltese journalists, Neil Camilleri and Giuseppe Attard, are currently filming a documentary alongside a frontline medical evacuation team from Благодійний Фонд MOAS-Україна (MOAS Ukraine), documenting the harrowing efforts of medics as they rescue critically injured Ukrainian soldiers from the heart of the Zaporizhzhia frontline.

The medical team works in high-risk conditions, racing against time to stabilize and evacuate wounded soldiers under the constant threat of shelling and gunfire. Camilleri and Attard’s footage provides a rare and emotional look at the reality of war.

The documentary is being produced in collaboration with MOAS Ukraine and MOAS EU, and will premiere on May 5.

Six Senses Comino Project Approved By Planning Authority

Apr 24 2025 Share

The Planning Authority has approved the redevelopment of the existing hotel and bungalows at San Niklaw Bay and Santa Marija Bay on the island of Comino.

The €170 million project, proposed by HV Hospitality—a subsidiary of Hili Ventures—follows a five-year planning and consultation process involving various stakeholders, including the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA).

The approved development will see the current 1960s-era structures replaced with a new, lower-density model for tourism.

The number of guests accommodated will be reduced from 284 to 240, and the number of bungalows will decrease from 21 to 16. No new development will take place on previously undisturbed land.

Designed by Belvedere Architecture, the plan includes the restoration of over 8,200 square metres of land to its natural state.

Additionally, more than 55,000 endemic trees, plants, and shrubs are set to be planted as part of what is described as Malta’s first reforestation initiative of its kind.

The Six Senses Comino project will be tourism-focused, as outlined in existing land concessions.

The proposal also includes measures to improve coastal access, prevent untreated sewage discharge, restore garigue habitats, comply with the Natura 2000 Management Plan, and meet LEED sustainability standards under conditions imposed by the ERA.

MaltaPost Launches Commemorative Stamp Honouring Pope Francis

MaltaPost Launches Commemorative Stamp Honouring Pope Francis
Apr 24 2025 Share

MaltaPost have announced a special edition commemorative stamp in honour of the late Pope Francis, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 88.

The stamp, set to be available from all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo as from Saturday 26th April, pays tribute to the legacy of a pontiff whose 12-year papacy left an incredible mark on the global Catholic community and beyond.

The €1.50 stamp, designed by MaltaPost p.l.c, features a portrait of Pope Francis with the inscription ‘Pope Francis 1936–2025’ and will be issued in sheets of 10.

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Pope Francis was the first Jesuit and the first Latin American to ascend to the papacy following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI in 2013.

His choice of the papal name “Francis” reflected his admiration for Saint Francis of Assisi and singled the simplicity and reformist tone that would come to define his leadership.
