Over 2,400 Fines Issued For Phone Use While Driving In First 3 Months Of 2025
Apr 23 2025 Share

A total of 2,493 fines were issued to drivers caught using their mobile phones while driving in the first three months of 2025, according to data released by the Local Enforcement System Agency (LESA).”

The use of mobile phones behind the wheel was the most frequently penalised traffic offence in the first quarter of the year. It was followed by violations related to continuous white lines, which accounted for 1,168 fines during the same period.

Not wearing seatbelts also remained a persistent issue, with 857 fines handed out in the first three months of the year. Meanwhile, offenses involving the safety of children in vehicles, though significantly lower in number, still saw 65 fines issued — highlighting ongoing concerns about child passenger protection.
