Prime Minister Robert Abela took to social media to announce that the cabinet approved a decision to kick off a parliamentary process which would transfer the title of national pool to the Marsaskala Aquatic Sports Club.

This comes after, two years ago, the Prime Minister vowed during an electoral campaign that Żonqor is given back to the people.

The Labour Party leader said that that was only the first step, going to announce the national pool title transfer.

Robert Abela called this ‘another decision which will leave a positive effect on the community.’

Sweden Set To Join NATO

Sweden Set To Join NATO

Sweden has overcome its final hurdle to join NATO as Hungary’s parliament ratified its bid, marking a “historic day” according to Sweden’s prime minister.

This move, spurred by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, received relief from other alliance members. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed Sweden’s imminent accession, stating it would bolster the alliance’s strength and safety.

Leaders like German Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized the significance of Sweden’s inclusion in enhancing Europe and global security. Following Russia’s invasion two years ago, Sweden and Finland applied to join NATO, abandoning their longstanding non-alignment stance.

Despite Finland’s earlier accession in April last year, Sweden’s bid faced delays due to Hungary and Turkey. Ankara endorsed Sweden’s candidacy last month, with Hungary’s recent approval ending over a year of frustration among NATO members.

The vote saw overwhelming support in Hungary’s parliament, with 188 members in favor and six far-right deputies opposed. With Sweden’s NATO membership on the horizon, the alliance anticipates reinforced defense capabilities and strengthened security in Europe and beyond.

Taking to social media, Clean Malta re-shared the Malta Ranger Unit’s post which showed bulky kitchen appliances thrown into nature.

‘Why pollute your own country’, asked Clean Malta. ‘We offer so many services as a government and as local councils and yet you still get people illegally dumping trash.’

The Malta Ranger Unit explained that if someone is caught illegally dumping waste from one’s vehicle, the court can order the sequestration of the vehicle (2 months to a year).

A driving license could even be suspended over the illegal act. The Clean Malta Cleansing and Maintenance Division highlighted that despite the ongoing works, some people pay no mind to these efforts.

‘Do not be part of the problem but be part of the solution,’ Clean Malta concluded.
